Hiphopistan ist ein Dokumentarfilm, der den Einfluss der Hip Hop Kultur auf die Jugend in Istanbul zeigt, wie junge türkische Rapper, DJs, Breakdancer und Graffitikünstler kreativ populäre Einflüsse mit ihren lokalen kulturellen Werten und Traditionen vermischen. Der Film gibt Einblick in das Leben einer innovativen Jugend in einer vornehmlich muslimischen und weltoffenen Stadt und macht gleichzeitig auf die vielen Ähnlichkeiten einer weltweiten Jugendkultur aufmerksam.

Hiphopistan is a documentary film that examines the impact of hip-hop culture on Istanbul youth and reveals how young Turkish rappers, DJs, break-dancers, and graffiti artists creatively blend popular influences with their local cultural values and traditions. While providing a glimpse into the lives of innovative youth in a predominantly Muslim and rapidly globalizing city, this film raises awareness of the many similarities of youth culture worldwide.
